Our 12 Derbyshire Dales District Councillors

A Progressive Alliance for Derbyshire Dales District

We are the largest party on the District Council and we lead the Progressive Alliance.

Steve Flitter, the Leader of the Liberal Democrats on DDDC said - We are delighted to come together as 3 progressive Parties to offer the residents and businesses of the Derbyshire Dales a new approach to local politics. We know that our District faces many challenges, not least the cost of living crisis, the shortage of affordable housing for our young families and the threat to our environment from new developments and pollution.

Working together we will support our communities in the best and most effective way, and provide them with genuinely value-for-money services.

When is ‘sponging’ acceptable?

Much of the Britain's population fears not having enough money to pay skyrocketing bills - mortgages or rent, food and basic necessities. Yet the former+1 PM, Boris Johnson, apparently has an endless supply of willing donors to keep him and his ever expanding family in the life style to which he wants to be accustomed. He has just been handed another £10,000 worth of accommodation for the month of October, even though he part owns three properties in London! He already earns remarkable amounts of money for the occasional talk, to glorify them with the title 'lecture' implies intellectual rigour and argument. His will be the usual flippant, self congratulatory nonsense that he espoused when PM.

November is Islamophobia awareness month

November is Islamopbobia Awareness Month and the horrifying petrol bombing at the Manston migration centre, proves that when inflammatory rhetoric is used by politicians and the media, then the result can literally be incendiary. The bomber's Facebook page was filled with hate-filled rants against migrants and Muslims. Politicians must be held to account for their words. They stoke fear and anger that is often misplaced and can be dangerous.
