Our 12 Derbyshire Dales District Councillors

A Progressive Alliance for Derbyshire Dales District

We are the largest party on the District Council and we lead the Progressive Alliance.

Steve Flitter, the Leader of the Liberal Democrats on DDDC said - We are delighted to come together as 3 progressive Parties to offer the residents and businesses of the Derbyshire Dales a new approach to local politics. We know that our District faces many challenges, not least the cost of living crisis, the shortage of affordable housing for our young families and the threat to our environment from new developments and pollution.

Working together we will support our communities in the best and most effective way, and provide them with genuinely value-for-money services.

Air Pollution impact

Highways Authority appears to ignore health costs of air pollution

In a report presented to the Derbyshire County Council Health and Well-being Board in October, it was acknowledged that there are over 1,000 'excess deaths' in Derbyshire that can be attributed to air pollution. Air pollutants come from a variety of sources but undoubtedly the major contributor in most locations is road transport.

Time for warm action, not just warm words?

In my days as a physics teacher (please don't stop reading in fear or disgust) I used to teach that trapped air created good heat insulation. And so it does. Insulation in cavity walls and in the loft makes our homes much more efficient at keeping in heat. Less energy is wasted, saving us money on heating bills. And we help to save the planet by burning less fossil fuel.
