Our 12 Derbyshire Dales District Councillors

A Progressive Alliance for Derbyshire Dales District

We are the largest party on the District Council and we lead the Progressive Alliance.

Steve Flitter, the Leader of the Liberal Democrats on DDDC said - We are delighted to come together as 3 progressive Parties to offer the residents and businesses of the Derbyshire Dales a new approach to local politics. We know that our District faces many challenges, not least the cost of living crisis, the shortage of affordable housing for our young families and the threat to our environment from new developments and pollution.

Working together we will support our communities in the best and most effective way, and provide them with genuinely value-for-money services.

Job Sharing for Councillors?

Local Democracy should be for everyone Democracy should be one of the greatest acts of equality and yet many are excluded from the very processes it entails. It relies on people being able to engage, but unfortunately the very nature of the work throws obstacles in the way of this willingness. Time to participate and a means to participate are often the greatest challenges. Those with work, disability, childcare responsibilities and family commitments, are often unable to engage in a meaningful way and we wonder why we aren't able to attract a greater diversity of people into the political arena.
