What is the Conservative record on the environment?

Whether it is giving water companies 18 years to sort out less than half of their storm sewage discharges or, more locally, suspending food waste collections so that kitchen scraps went to landfill releasing methane, a potent greenhouse gas, the Conservative track record on the environment is less than impressive.

From the extensive comments about Ashbourne in their by-election leaflets you might have thought that the town was in the Carsington Water Ward. Or is it just that they can think of no benefit that the last two decades of Conservative control in Derbyshire Dales has brought to the immediate area of Carsington Water?

Road Safety on the cheap?

There is an implication in the Conservative election material for Carsington Water Ward that Tories are taking road safety seriously. However it seems that they are not taking it seriously enough to spend their 'own' money on it.

Tories not up to speed over broadband

The progress towards the Government's target of 85% of homes and businesses to have high speed broadband by 2025 looks woefully inadequate. In Derbyshire Dales it was only 12.2% in 2021 and at the present rate of progress it will only be 22% by 2025 - rather less than 85%

Derbyshire Dales Liberal Democrats elected a Diversity Officer at its last Exec Meeting. Jane Dent agreed to take on the role and has made an impressive start on initiatives that should help the local party address issues of diversity and inclusivity.
